New update =)

Recently busy doing assignments, still haven't got the time to do any artworks for my own. Anyway, I am happy that i finally got a friend find me to do design for her business assignment. She want me to design a logo for her restaurant business assignment and her group gave the name called " Happy Season/s".

Below here are my Media Innovation / Advertising design assignment. The task is to choose a food product that sells in the supermarket and analyse the situation for the market place and SWOT. Then create and design a logo, tagline, voucher/coupon,  paper bag, packaging, 3d modelling and animation for the new product we created.

I chose instant noodle snack and named it Owlker which derived from Owl Rocker. Owl represents the night and rocker means the people who rock/work means night rocker which is my target audience. They are late night workers or study late night and also love midnight snack.

The tagline is " Taste the midnight rocker." which is a metaphor that midnight rocker is the snack food. Means with the midnight rocker (instant noodle snack), your night will be rocked by Owlker, away from the dull working overtime mood.

Thus, the paper bag design  which I chose the background with lines which reminds me or the notebook papers to shows like working or studying days where you need to drop things down, to bring closer to the target audience, at the same time, i put colorful circles with the pattern/texture of the noodle which also represent the shape of the food product and also the colours are to cheer the workers up from their dull working days. The thunders and the moon with stars gives the rocker mood and meaning to relate back to the night rocker concept. Because of target audience is urban workers and students, I added the city buildings. Thunder symbol also gives the meaning of the crispy noodle.

New Sketch - Joker Queen

It's a  sketch i drawn halfway last semester and this semester i complete it while waiting for another class to come. =)

When i first finished this drawing, i just see her like a joker queen, then i named it joker queen, drawn with ball pens and highlighter and makers then edited the background colors in photoshop.

Opinions for customize

can give me some comments? I don't know which one is better if based on my sketch although i didn't follow exactly the same from sketch, the mask is made of newspapers, metal wires, paint, spray mount, golden/silver powder, pva glue, plastic spoons that used for take away coffee cups, the flowers is made by newspapers with those beads. thread got from daiso.

Making Masquerades 2

Finally got my masks done yesterday, and just ready for using them for photo shoot, both of them are made of newspapers and metal wires/string to shape them, paint, and spray mount to cover one layer on top of the masks to maintain or make the mask slighty shiny.

I know the real one didn't look as huge as the sketch.. and i didn't add any flowers as i afraid of having too much details, do you think so?

Making Masquerades

I was learning to make masquerades recently, first time doing masquerade and also first time try used newspapers and metal wires and minor recyclable materials such as the plastic small spoon for coffee cup and Colgate's card box.

both are still in progress and they are made for photoshooting purposes as i plan to do so.

I recently have gave myself a nickname as a cartoonist or artist for doodling, SiputYau

Siput means snails in Malay language. I named that as i felt that i always kind of slow in painting stuff, so I named myself Siput.

Yau is my first name "Hoong Yau"

ermm sorry for lag  and lack of updates, here's one update for the Proton car ad sketch i did for my assignment. Just started my new semester 3 weeks ago..=) comments and critiques are welcome.

Handmade Hat

i made this for photoshooting... the talent haven't free yet for me to photoshoot her.... the hat is hand sew using the cloth that I found in shoe box and the colour plates/circle thingy is made by glue and colour markers..the flower is made using the plastic cover cups and the coffee cup stirring spoons...

I put colours on the coin with colour markers then only put a layer of thick glue on the coin and leave it dry and you will the end product like the image shown above. =) yea, I spent a lot of time to make that during my holiday.

Sketches for another assignment

These are the sketches I did yesterday for my group assignment.

The topic is called the uniqueness of creative multimedia. And my group said they want to show more inspirations from creative multimedia. But my concept is not only inspirations but grow wider and broader as in this course can make us learn a lot grow from there, is like a locker and we are the key to unlock the wonderful and inspirational journey from creative multimedia.

MI assignment 2 - Motion Graphic

The assignment for this time is to create a one minute flash with content of launching a new product, something like a trailer or ads. And i chose music album and i chose Amei star for this project and choose her latest album, Amit, Gulilai Amit, her aboriginal name.

There will be a string of events to be organized for this upcoming Photography Exhibition, inclusive of photos gallery, workshops, Photography talks, seminars, fashion show, experience sharing and excellent performances for the exhibition period! MI CNY soft drink ads assignment

Sorry for very very lag of updating this blog, I was busy with my own works and also school works. And this is one of them. To choose a product from 5 products and match with one special events from 5 different events. In the end, I chose soft drink with Chinese New Year event. After many consultations with lecturers and research from internet and precedent studies, here's the result. The reason I choose pheonix instead of dragon or tiger to represent Chinese New Year is too generic and common as I was told by the lecturer so I used pheonix in the end.

This was done by mixed software and media which is photo cutout, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop.

Recycle Old Clothes Project

this is an old pants that my mum already cut off half of it and left it here. Thus, I think of using it to make a box to keep my shade glasses.

and I cut out corner pieces of these polystyrene food containers that I collected from buying meat in supermarket. I have two of these and used to combine together to form a box then sew the cloth pocket to put the polystyrene in to form a solid box shape to protect the glasses.

and I decorate it by sewing my name on it ^_^"
